Scholarship 2016/17 now open
The Remi Stud Young Rider Scholarship is an annual Scholarship and is awarded to
a very deserving Young Rider who has the talent and dedication in either Dressage or Eventing, but needs
financial assistance to purchase a horse of their dreams. Cheryl from Remi Stud has put together a great team
of supporters to help make this dream come true for one lucky young rider. Learn more about the team of
supporters HERE.

This scholarship is an amazing opportunity for a young rider to
have entry into the equestrian industry with support from a variety of supporters. The scholarship
includes the ownership of a purpose bred Remi Stud Hanoverian weanling by either Lauries As or Fishermans
Friend - two of the best performed Hanoverian stallions in Australia - this year the scholarship horse is

The Remi Stud Young Rider

Easifeed until the horse is three years of age, registration with Equestrian Queensland, marketing from
Equestrian Australia, legal support from HorseForce, a saddle, bridle and saddlecloth from Edwards Saddleworld,
10 weeks training by Team Van Den Berge when the horse turns three years old, show product from Dr Show, and
Veterinary care from Westvets. A total package valued at over $30,000.
The inaugural winner of this Scholarship in 2013 was Isabella Wilkinson- McIntyre
and she received the beautiful colt, Remi Livingstone S by Lauries As. This year the Remi Stud Young
Rider Scholarship was awarded to ALEXANDRA BARLOW from Yeppoon in Central Queensland. She received the
beautiful filly REMI LIBERTY BELLE S by Lauries As/ Remi Florence Nightingale by Fishermans Friend. Remi
Florence Nightingale is a half sister to Underdiscussion (aka Remi Lethal Weapon) who won the CHIO 3* Eventing
Championship in Aachen, Germany in 2012 ridden by Christopher Burton.
Alex is a very dedicated young rider and competitor in the field of eventing, so we look
forward to seeing her competing Belle in the years ahead. Due to geographical challenges, this
dedication presented itself in many ways over the past few years, not in the least needing to travel
thousands of kilometres to compete at any horse events. She has been a member of the Yeppoon Hack
and Pony Club since she was 6 years old and didn’t even own her own horse. She learnt to ride on horses
from the local riding school, until the riding school eventually gave her her first pony – a green 4 y/o
called Cola. By Alex’s own admission, she fell off Cola more times than she could count, but she
never gave up. She had her first x-country lesson with Kevin McNab when she was 8 years old
and a year later won her first Bronze Medal, and from then on she was hooked on eventing.
In 2012 Alex’s parents purchased her a horse, a Clydie X mare called Ana
Banana. Dedication and talent saw them compete in their first Pre-Novice event and come away with a
Bronze Medal and a place on the National Team. More recently she rode Ana in Ana‘s first PCAQ State
Championships, and true to her passion - she came away with the Gold Medal. There is no doubt that Alex
is a talented rider but she realises that it is extremely hard for a horse that is built to pull carts to
lengthen its stride cross country, so their partnership is limited. Later this year Ana will pass on to
Alex’s younger sister, leaving Alex without a horse. And this is where the Scholarship comes
in.
Equestrian sport in Qld has benefited from Alex’s wonderful
achievements, her talent, inspirations of excellence, and sheer determination to be the best person and rider
that she can be. With young riders like Alex and Isabella, our Equestrian sport will continue to prosper
in Australia well into the future. Remi Stud, together with their Supporters (EQ, EA, HorseForce, Edwards
Saddleworld, Team VDB, Dr Show, Westvets, and Prydes Easifeed) are delighted that Alexandra Barlow is the
winner of the Remi Stud Young Rider Scholarship in 2014, and we look forward to watching Alex and Remi Liberty
Belle S competing in the years ahead. We also look forward to presenting the 2015 Scholarship winner at
the Brisbane CDI again next year.

Jenny,
Thank you so much for all your
support for the teams at the Easter Show – the children were most appreciative of your caps (it was hard to
get them to take them off one mother told me)and product. The Dr Show team won the first game by one
goal, lost the second game in extra time to a golden goal and were beaten in the
final.
Thank you once again for your
support.

Fiona

Hi Jenny,
Burra District Pony Club would like to say a big "Thankyou" to Dr Show for your very generous
donation of samples of your product "Knots Away".
The samples were placed into a registration pack for each family and were very popular, with some very grateful
recipients keen to try out the product!
It is really great to have such a quality product, that is gentle for horses skin being produced here in
Australia and I am looking forward to trying out some of your other products!
Hopefully this exposure to the Pony Club Community will bring you some more orders.
Many Thanks again for supporting Burra District Pony Club,
Leigh Azzopardi.
